The GT40 no.3 of Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant, entered by Shelby American Inc. They retired after 18 hours with engine trouble, but retained the lap record of 203.103 kmh. No.7 of Graham Hill and Brian Muir entered by Alan Mann Racing retired after 9 hours with suspension problems. This was the year whem GT40s completed a memorable 1-2-3 beating both Porsche and Ferrari teams.
